Maintaining my Afro Kinky twists

Hey lovelies,

It’s ages since I last wrote a post. I have been swamped with lots of work and with the year coming to and end, I still have to tick off some backlogs.

Straight to the point,  this is the longest time I have had my twist extensions, they will be making 16weeks on Friday. It’s long! Yes it is very long! Reasons:

  • Salon is a luxury here, can’t afford the spend $300 AUDs on having my hair braided.
  • My patience is on test. I need to learn to be patient if I want my hair healthy and long.
  • Thanks to YouTube, I have learned how to braid my own hair, so I have done repair on my nape and  balm.

  1. Afro Kinky twists looks good old

If you ask me how I have maintained my hair, I will tell you:

  • I co- wash it every two weeks. Co-washing is when you use a conditioner instead of a shampoo to wash your hair. After research, I have learned that shampoo strips the hair of its moisture so I basically use my conditioner to wash my twists.  Currently I am loving the Tresemme remoisture conditioner because it leaves my kinky twists crispy clean and shiny without over drying my scalp.
  • To keep my scalp free from oil build up, I use the magic spray bottle. Contents of my magic spray bottle and how I make my own DIY everyday hair regimen will be for in another  post I promise.
  • I tie a scarf on my head every time before I go to bed and after I have massaged the contents of my magic bottle into my scalp. To be honest, I oil my hair at night because it’s proven that hair growth occurs in the night.

  • I brush my edges everymorning and lay them with Eco styler gel. This leaves them loyal ( yes because sometimes these edges ain’t loyal) and well moisturised.

How do you take care of braids, extension  twists? I would love to know😊

Thanks for stopping by,

❤️💛💙💜💚
